We’ve expanded our transportation coverage for China with the addition of road freight indicators, broken down by region. The dataset is sourced from the Chinese Ministry of Transport. 

In the chart below we compare the past 11 years of road freight in Beijing. It is worth noting that 2022 has been a weak year so far, especially compared with 2020 and 2021. 

Thailand

We’ve added monthly agricultural prices for a broad range of products. 

The bar chart below summarizes the dataset, breaking down various agricultural products by type and displaying the current price, the percentage change since the beginning of the year and the percentage change from the previous month. 

Norway

We’ve added water reservoir data from the Norwegian Water Resources & Energy Directorate. The country has over 1,700 hydropower plants, which account for 90 percent of the country's power production. Low reservoir levels can have significant impacts on electricity prices and increase the risk of shortages.

In the chart below, we looked at the seasonality of the reservoir levels and compared 2022 with the pattern of the previous 27 years. It appears that reservoirs were less full than average until recent weeks. This is of note given the energy shortages and surging electricity prices across Europe.
