Keynote Speaker

Luci Ellis, Westpac Banking Group

Chief Economist

Luci Ellis is Westpac’s Chief Economist, responsible for their economic research and serving as the key economic spokesperson. Before joining Westpac, she was Assistant Governor (Economic) at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) from 2016 to 2023 and previously led the RBA’s Financial Stability Department for eight years. Luci also spent two years on secondment at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel and held various senior roles over her three-decade career in central banking. Since 2015, she has been a member of the Australian Statistics Advisory Council, advising the Minister and the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Luci holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales, a Master’s in Economics from the Australian National University, and a first-class Honours degree in Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

Felicity Emmett, Australian Super

Senior Director - Macro Research

Felicity is a senior economist with over 25 years of experience in financial markets. She is responsible for macroeconomic analysis and forecasting at Australian Super. Prior to this, she spent a decade at ANZ, providing specialist insights on the Australian economy and policy outlook. Her career includes economist roles at the Royal Bank of Scotland, ABN AMRO Australia, and BZW Australia, where she developed expertise in economic research and financial market strategy.

Scott Haslem, LGT Crestone

CIO & Head of Investment Product Services

Scott Haslem leads the Investment, Product, and Services division at LGT Crestone Wealth Management, overseeing strategic and tactical asset allocation, portfolio construction, and manager selection across equities, fixed income, and alternative assets. Previously, he was Managing Director and Chief Economist, Head of Macro Research for Australia and New Zealand at UBS, where he led a consistently top-rated economics team and was ranked the #1 broking economist for 10 of 11 years. With over 25 years in global financial markets, Scott has worked closely with fund managers, superannuation funds, and wealth management clients. He began his career at the Reserve Bank of Australia in economic forecasting. Scott holds a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from the University of Queensland and a Master of Economics from the Australian National University.

Leanne Taylor, VFMC

Head of Portfolio Strategy and Asset Allocation

Leanne Taylor joined VFMC in 2022 and leads the firm’s active asset allocation strategy, macroeconomic research, and capital market analysis. Before this, she was Head of Asset Allocation and Portfolio Construction at Cbus Super, overseeing multi-asset portfolios and macroeconomic scenario frameworks. With over 25 years in financial services, she has held senior roles at Allard Partners, Insurance Australia Group, Merrill Lynch (now Bank of America), and Westpac. Leanne began her career at the Reserve Bank of Australia. She holds a Master of Economics from the Australian National University, a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from the University of Tasmania, and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments.

Will Denyer, Gavekal

Head of Portfolio Strategy and Asset Allocation

Will Denyer is Gavekal’s Chief US Economist, leading analysis on US monetary policy, business cycles, corporate profitability, and interest rate dynamics. He plays a key role in managing the firm’s global research team. Will first joined Gavekal in 2005 and moved to a permanent role in 2007, based in Hong Kong. His research draws inspiration from Knut Wicksell’s work on interest rates and valuations. He holds a Master’s in Economics from Mises Graduate School and a Bachelor’s in Business and Economics from the University of Oklahoma. Fluent in English—with the occasional "y’all"—he continues his studies in Chinese.
