OECD: Employment Rate & Life Satisfaction
In the recent data additions, we’ve added a lot of data on social protection and welfare from OECD. This means we now carry data on jobs, life satisfaction, education, health, environment, and other indicators included in the better life index (BLI) for all the OECD countries.
In this chart we’ve looked at the effect of employment status on life satisfaction. The correlation between these two measures has always been of particular interest in the empirical research of economics. This chart, in line with previous research, shows that unemployment is to a high degree associated with lower levels of happiness, which in this case is conceptualized as life satisfaction.
Lebanon: Contribution to Inflation
We have also added data on CPI weights for Lebanon, allowing for a closer look on what drives inflation. These weights provide a detailed picture of how each item affects the total inflation measure.
In the chart below, we show how much each item contributes to total inflation from December 2013 until today.
Iceland: Companies debt relative to GDP
Another addition is data on Iceland company bonds debt in terms of GDP. The data includes index and non-index bonds, foreign and domestic bonds issues as well as FX loans and asset financing agreements.
The chart below presented as a stacked column shows the company debt owned in Iceland relative to GDP along with the total sum. Among the different types of debt, only the foreign currency linked increased significantly up to the financial crisis in 2008.
Austria: Exports to Germany by Goods
This week, new data has also been added for Austrian foreign trade per commodity and country, making it now possible to get data on Austrian imports and exports to countries worldwide.
In the chart below we’ve looked at the exports to Germany for different sectors. You can see exports increasing in all sectors except for mineral fuels, lubricants & related materials.
