Your Overview of Data Additions

CBOE Bats Indices

During the last two weeks, we’ve added the Bats Indices which are calculated using data from the European arm of CBOE Global Markets. CBOE Bats covers 57 indices (calculated in both price and net total return) across 15 countries, pan-European and Eurozone regions, Brexit and sector indices.

The chart below looks at the performance of the two “Brexit” indices from the 1st of January 2016. The Bats UK Brexit High 50 is comprised of the 50 companies in the Bats 100 UK Index that derive the largest portions of their revenues from the UK. The Bats UK Brexit Low 50 contains the 50 companies that derive the smallest portion of their revenues from the UK.

The Brexit 50/50 Indices are designed to act as barometers for assessing how Brexit is impacting these companies.

New Zealand: Drought Index (NZDI)

For New Zealand, we’ve added environmental data from NIWA (National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research). The addition covers the New Zealand Drought Monitor, which is a system for keeping track of drought conditions across New Zealand based on a standardized climate index.

The data is available on a city / district level. In the chart below, we chose to calculate the average of the NZDI Index for all districts, and then to compare 2018 and 2017 with a mean of the index since 2007.

The New Zealand Drought Index (NZDI), is a climate data-based indicator of drought based on four commonly-used climatological drought indicators: The Standardized Precipitation Index, the Soil Moisture Deficit, the Soil Moisture Deficit Anomaly, and the Potential Evapotranspiration Deficit. These four underlying indicators are also available in Macrobond.
