Your Overview of Data Additions

Expanding our coverage of sub-Saharan Africa, adding detailed datasets, and more time-series from the OECD MEI database.

Coverage of sub-Saharan Africa

When adding primary source data for countries, we start by creating a good, general foundation of the most basic and commonly used indicators, such as GDP, inflation, monetary aggregates and policy rates.

In the last two weeks, we’ve focused on building a robust coverage of countries in sub-Saharan Africa. With first-time additions for Botswana, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Gambia, and Senegal, as well as expanding coverage of South Africa. For a complete list of which countries, we’ve added data for, and links to the various indicators we have added, navigate to the end of this post.

Adding detailed datasets

In cases where we already provide broad coverage of emerging markets, the type of additions we make are often based on user requests. For example, we’ve added time series that provide a more detailed or nuanced understanding of unemployment statistics for Brazil, and banking and credit statistics for Argentina, as you can see in the charts below.

OECD Main Economic Indicators

We have expanded our coverage of the OECD MEI database to include debt rations for institutional sectors. The example below looks at the total household debt as a percentage of GDI, for different countries. For the complete list, and links to find the data in the application, please see the list of data additions at the end of this post.
