Data Additions: Australia bond yield components, Hong Kong diffusion indices, IRENA renewable energy costs, and more

Highlights from the most recent data additions to the Macrobond database. You can find a full list of the series that have been added in the past 2 weeks at the bottom of the page.

Australia: Decomposing the 10-year treasury yield

Recent data additions to the Macrobond database include Australia’s treasury bond term premium and risk-neutral yields. The first component measures the risk premium demanded by an investor for long-term maturity bonds and the second component set the expectations for the trajectory of the monetary policy rate.

In the chart below, we’ve plotted the term premium and the risk-neutral yield along with Australia’s 10-year treasury bond yield. You can see that the treasury bond has dropped lower than the risk-neutral yield, indicating a less restrictive monetary policy expectation.

Hong Kong: diffusion indices on business receipts and employment

We’ve also added SME surveys from Hong Kong, including diffusion indices for current and future conditions, as well as credit demand. The diffusion indices are available for different sectors within business receipts and employment. In the chart below, the diffusion index for total business receipts and employment are below the baseline (50) in both instances, showing a significant drop since May 2019, especially for business receipts.

In the chart below, we’re showing the two indicators separately in different panes. This is done in the graph layout window. A forecast was added using a formula to highlight the period extending after May 2019.

World: Renewable power generation costs

One of our newly added datasets is on world renewable power generation costs. This means you can now browse and use time series on the cost of installing renewable energy sources, such as wind power, solar power, hydropower, and more. The data is available for both individual countries and for the world as a whole. In this chart, we can see that the total installed costs for most renewable energy sources has decreased since 2012.

Belgium: Recipients of unemployment benefits

We have also increased our coverage of the Belgian labor market with more data on unemployment. The new data includes recipients of unemployment benefits by job-seeking status, age, region, and gender.

In the chart below, we’ve plotted the current number of recipients of unemployment benefits by gender and age group, along with the change from 5 years ago. There’s been a decrease in unemployment benefits for both Men and women of all ages.
