Your Overview of Data AdditionsSystemic Banking Crises, World terrorism statistics, Germany central government debt and Australia employment by occupation.
Systemic Banking Crises
We’ve recently added data about systemic banking crises. A systemic banking crisis is defined by the IMF as a situation where a country’s banking system shows significant financial distress and a significant policy intervention is implemented to save the system from further collapse. This data is available for a wide range of countries as time series, and also as shaded bands that can be added directly to a chart similarly to recession bands.
In the chart below, we present the two periods when Russia experienced a systemic banking crisis as shaded bands. We have also added two time series: the amount of private credit to GDP and the debt service ratio for Russia during these periods.
World: terrorism statistics
We have also added international terrorism statistics data, including time series on fatalities, incidents and airline fatalities as a result of terrorism.
In this chart, you can see the annual number of fatalities from different airline hijackings since 1942, with the main incidents responsible for major spikes labelled.
Germany: Central government debt
We’ve increased our coverage of government debt statistics for Germany. We now have central government debt for different maturity horizons: short, medium and long term.
In the chart below, we’ve plotted the percentage performance of central government debt for these three terms, starting in January 2009.
Australia: Employment by occupation
We’ve also further increased our coverage for Australia, adding more granular foreign trade data by country as well as employment data by occupation.
This bar chart shows the newly added occupational data, split by the number of men and women employed in each profession.
