S&P TSX Equity Indices for Canada, Financial Accounts details for Sweden, increased Caribbean coverage, and U.S. Hurricane Impacts / LandfallsCanada: S&P TSX Equity Indices
For Canada, we just added the S&P TSX Equity Indices as well as the different sub-indices and various metrics, including P/E ratios, 12-month forward P/E, price to book, dividend yields, and more.
In the chart below, we compared the daily performance of the different industry-group indices for the TSX 60, since the beginning of the year. The high/low range is highlighted with the red box.
Bear in mind that opening this chart would require to have the version 1.20 of Macrobond.
Sweden: Financial Accounts [S1 to S1314 tables]
For Sweden, we recently added detailed Financial Accounts tables from SCB, from table S1 “Domestic Sectors” to S1314 “Social Security Funds”. Data is available as transactions (flows) and balances (levels).
In the chart below, we displayed the Central Banks Financial Assets as percentage of GDP and used the cross section analysis to create the ‘Others’ category that includes the smallest items as a portion of the total.
Caribbean Coverage
During the past two weeks, we’ve expanded our data coverage on the Caribbean Islands. This includes Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, as well as the Region itself of Eastern Caribbean States.
The additions include CPI, Tourism statistics and Foreign Trade.
In the chart below, we took a closer look at Dominica, and how the Hurricane Isaac impacted and continues to impact tourism, as well as the consequences in terms of GDP growth. The tourism statistics come from the ECCB (Eastern Caribbean Central Bank), while the GDP series come from IMF WEO.
United States: Hurricane Impacts/Landfalls
For the United States, we’ve added hurricane statistics from NOAA (The National Oceanic & Atmosphere Administration). The data is divided into hurricane categories, ranging from 1 to 5, and displays the number of hurricanes per month, with the earliest series starting in 1851.
The first chart below presents the frequency and severity of the hurricanes in the United States, historically. Severity has been calculated by multiplying the number of hurricanes per category with the windspeed (according to the Saffir-Simpson scale).
