We’ve expanded our data coverage of Japan with the addition of traffic statistics from Narita airport, one of two main airports serving the Tokyo area, and the busiest in terms of traffic.

The dataset can help assess the recovery of the tourism sector. However, as the chart below shows, while domestic flights are close to their pre-pandemic trends, international traffic remains extremely low. 

World - EIA

We have added to our coverage of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) the ‘monthly petroleum & other liquids production’ dataset, broken down by region and country. 

The chart below breaks down petroleum supply across regions, with North America and the Middle East producing more than half of the world’s supply. 

World - FAO

We’ve added several datasets from the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). One of them focuses on forest resources, and provides information such as deforestation, afforestation, natural forest expansion and more.

The chart below displays the 15 countries with the highest levels of deforestation and afforestation. Brazil is the country with the highest volume of deforestation (although it also has sizeable forest land). Conversely, China is by far the country with the highest volume of afforestation, a process described as the establishment of a forest or stand of trees in an area where there was no previous tree cover.
